DARPAN REGISTRATION

NITI AAYOG/ DARPAN REGISTRATION

The NGO Darpan is an Online portal initiated and maintained by NITI Aayog (National Institution for Transforming India). The main agenda of this Portal is to create a common platform that brings Voluntary Organisations (VOs), Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) and the Indian Government.

REGISTER IN NITI AAYOG'S

WHY SHOULD AN NGO/VO REGISTER IN NITI AAYOG'S NGO DARPAN PORTAL?

The Indian Government acknowledges and encourages the works of Voluntary Organizations and NGOs as it supplements the Government’s initiatives to improve the country on various social causes such as Women Empowerment, Orphan Children Rehabilitation, Malnutrition, Child Education, Homeless Rehabilitation etc.

The Government also supports these NGOs and VOs with frequent Grants and Funding Assists in order to extend the NGO or VO’s reach in their intended area of work.

In order to ensure that Grants and Funding are granted to deserving NGOs and to prevent misuse of the funding, NITI Aayog created the DARPAN Portal, which serves as a repository of all the NGOs in India.

Hence it is mandatory for an NGO/VO to register under the NITI Aayog’s DARPAN Portal in order to be eligible for receiving a grant. Every NGO/ VO, upon registration in the DARPAN portal, will receive a Unique Identification number called the DARPAN ID.

BENEFITS FOR AN NGO

BY REGISTERING WITH NITI AAYOG'S NGO DARPAN PORTAL

Increased Credibility:

The DARPAN Portal maintains a list of all working NGOs in the country (NGO Directory) categorized by State and Sector and makes it available to the general public. It also maintains a list of all Black listed NGOs in the country. This transparent approach increases the credibility of NGOs registered under the DARPAN portal among potential donors.

All in one Platform:

The NGO Darpan Portal currently includes 35 Online Departments and 53 Participating Departments of the Indian Government. Hence all the Grant details and all other important updates are published frequently in the form of Circulars. All the applications to the Grants and Funds can be sent via the DARPAN Portal. This decreases the redundant efforts of keeping track of different Ministry websites for grants in various sectors. Thus, the DARPAN Portal serves as an all-in-one platform.

Improved Connections:

The NGOs can apply and undertake and work towards different Government Schemes (mostly granted with funding assistance) posted by various Ministries and States where they will work closely with Government bodies.

Unique Identification:

The DARPAN ID serves as a unique identification number for an NGO (similar to Aadhar Number for any Indian Citizen). Also, the DARPAN ID is recently made mandatory for the application of other NGO registrations, such as 12A registration, 80G Registration etc.
